Honda Sensing: the Honda Sensing suite, Honda’s bundle of advanced safety and driver-assistive technologies, helps enhance the driver’s situational awareness and, in some cases, can automatically intervene to avoid a collision or lessen its severity. Key features of Honda Sensing include:
Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS): This system recognizes the possibility of a collision with the vehicle or pedestrian ahead and warns and alerts the driver with audible and visual signals. If needed, it uses automatic braking to help reduce or avoid the collision.
Road Departure Mitigation System: This uses a camera to detect lane markers and can warn the driver if the vehicle is about to leave the roadway or detected lanes without signaling. It can also issue corrective steering and braking to help keep the vehicle in its lane.
Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC): Innate with that, enables its vehicle to set at a speed while automatically keeps a safe distance to the cars in front. Using radar and camera inputs, it adjusts speed automatically by applying the brakes or accelerating as necessary.
Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS): When LKAS is active, the system monitors lane markings, providing steering assistance to keep the vehicle centered in its lane. This works to minimize lane drift, which is especially helpful on long trips or in traffic.
(Please consider Chrome/Firefox or Safari.) Traffic Sign Recognition: This driver assistance technology is available on select models, detecting speed limit signs and other traffic signs with the use of a camera and displaying that information to the driver, allowing him or her to be aware of current traffic regulations.
Automatic High-Beam Headlights — This technology uses sensors and cameras to switch between high and low beams automatically depending on whether there are other cars on the road approaching.
LaneWatch: LaneWatch is not a component of the basic Honda Sensing suite on all models, but it uses a camera mounted under the passenger-side mirror to provide a wider view of the blind spot on the center display to promote safer lane changes.
Cross Traffic Monitor: This system uses visual and audible alerts to warn the driver of approaching vehicles or pedestrians from the left or right when reversing.
Honda Sensing is standard or available on a broad majority of Honda vehicles and delivers a significant safety benefit by helping prevent collisions through driver assistance technologies. Over the years, newer models have come with more advanced systems, such as Honda SENSING 360, a system that gives an extended detection range all-around the vehicle for further improved safety.
This suite of technologies embodies Honda’s vision to create a collision-free society with a commitment to active and passive safety that protects the driver, their passengers and all pedestrians.
